Major League Baseball 2008 official mobile game announced

It's hard for many countries who aren't included in baseball's World Series event (which I believe is all of them except for America – and possibly Canada) to really appreciate what the game's all about.

But as a national sport, it certainly seems to know how to put on a show, and to strike up the prerequisite level of frenzy, the official Major League Baseball 2008 mobile game has been announced.

Working your way to the World Series, you can choose from a 16, 32, or 64 game season, set your own postseason bracket and try to win it all, build your own team with your favourite MLB stars, receive up-to-date rosters and stats over a data connection and download recent results and have a go at replaying the games yourself. A pretty comprehensive game of rounders, all in all.

The MLB website seems to be pointing toward US networks only at the moment, but international fans will hopefully be seeing the game shortly, as it also mentions MLB 2008 is coming to mobile service providers soon.

Hit 'Track It!' now to catch the news as it leaves the park. Or something.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
