Do you play the market, or does the market play you?

Thanks to a new social game from mobile developer Cellufun, you can play the financial game as never before. Made Off satirises the exploits of real-life Ponzi scheme maestro Bernie Madoff, as you attempt to make money by diddling other players online.

Playing with 'cellupoints' rather than real money, Made Off casts you as a slimy fund manager or a savvy investor as you attempt to con as much as possible from innocent investors before the Feds kick the door in and crack down on your scam.

"When your fund goes broke, you go, Holy crap, I didn't invite enough people,'" says Neil Edwards, chief executive of Cellufun.

The real Bernie Madoff is currently languishing in jail while he awaits sentencing for one of the biggest financial scams of all time. The Ponzi scheme works by using capital from unsuspecting investors to make payments to more mature investors, creating a false appearance of legitimate returns without actually buying any securities at all.

Edwards is keen to point out that his game is intended to poke fun at Madoff, and not his victims, and that Made Off also contains an educational element.

Head on over to Cellufun's Wall Street offices for more info.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
