Last week Pocket Gamer’s very own Tracy Erickson dropped a few Madden 11 nuggets onto these pages.

Alongside the news that three versions (iPhone, iPhone 4 ‘HD’, and iPad) of EA’s venerable sporting franchise will be hitting the iOS platform in the not-too-distant future, a few fresh features were outed.

My personal favourite, Hot Routes, has been expanded, allowing greater impromptu control over defensive and offensive lines.

Also on the list is Total Defense Control, which assigns a specific action on the fly to all of your linebackers, say, at once.

GameFlow is the third in the holy trinity of new features for Madden 11 on iPhone and iPad, and should speed up matches by as much as 50 per cent.

Naturally enough, the graphics have been updated from last season’s incarnation, with the bespoke iPhone 4 version receiving Retina display support.

EA was kind enough to share some new screenies of the iPad edition on a site called Facebook, so check them out in the gallery to your right.

Oh, and there's something else.

Those in control of such things have decided to include a cover of the song Rock N Roll Part 2 on the game's official soundtrack. This song was originally popularised by paedophile musician Gary Glitter.

[Editor's note: the previous paragraph originally and erroneously suggested that Rock N Roll Part 2 is performed by Gary Glitter on Madden 11, rather than being a cover. Thanks, GlamSlam.]

It's not unknown for Glitter's music to reach international airwaves, but his presence on the Madden 11 soundtrack may raise eyebrows among UK gamers, for whom he's an almost unrivalled figure of hatred.

Glitter most recently made headlines because of a controversial fictional documentary called 'The Execution of Gary Glitter'.

Madden 11 for iPad and iPhone should be available soon after the console version lands on August 10th.

[Editor's note: EA has contacted Pocket Gamer to say that none of the licensed songs from the tracklist on its site (reproduced at the bottom of this article) - including the Gary Glitter cover 'Rock N Roll Part 2' - are in the iPhone or iPad versions of Madden 11. The iPhone and iPad tracklist is immediately below.]
