It appears Nokia’s recently released Lumia 800 is flying off the shelves, with the new mobile handset reportedly selling-out in the UK.

While it hasn't given sales figures, Nokia has revealed that “Based on earliest data the sales start of the Lumia 800 is the best ever first week of Nokia smartphone sales in the UK in recent history. By our measures, we have gained significant smartphone sell-out share in the channels in which we are operating in the UK.”

This announcement comes just days after Pacific Crest analyst James Faucette lowered his projected holiday sales forecast for the Windows Phone device from 2 million units to 500,000, citing less than positive sell-through checks.

Nokia deflected such negative analysis in its statement, describing predictions of the handset’s poor sales performance as “premature”.

The handset manufacturer has taken great pains to ensure its Lumia range of smartphones will rejuvenate the company's flagging market presence, indulging in an exhaustive advertising campaign and even securing exclusive games from EA.

Pocket Gamer adored Nokia’s flagship handset, giving the Lumia 800 a Gold Award.
