Nokia launches Windows Phone-powered Lumia 710 in Taiwan, rolling it out in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and Russia over the next week
Going global soon after
The Lumia 800 seems to have made a big impression on the European handset market, with Nokia's flagship Windows Phone device topping Dutch operator KPN's sales chart this week.
Now, Nokia has decided the time is right to launch the Lumia 710, making it available in Taiwan as of today, and rolling it out in Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and Russia over the coming week. It'll get a global release after that point.
Pegged as a cost-effective alternative to its bigger brother, the Lumia 710 houses the same 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor as the Lumia 800, albeit inside a more stocky, utilitarian casing.
Nokia says the Lumia 710 makes "the Nokia Lumia experience accessible to more people around the world".
Less is moreThe Lumia 710 carries a European price tag of around €270 - significantly lower than the Lumia 800's €420 RRP - and runs the latest iteration of Microsoft's mobile OS: Windows Phone 7.5, a.k.a. Mango.
It also features a 3.7-inch WVGA TFT screen, a 5-megapixel camera, 8GB of internal storage, and - for those who like to express themselves - interchangeable rear covers.
