According to a recent quote from Capcom, a mobile version of Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC hit Lost Planet 2 isn't an impossible feat, thanks to Nvidia's new quad-core Tegra 3 chip.

In fact, the gaming giant has already produced a working "test demo".

"Nvidia’s GPU architecture delivers the best gaming experience, bringing true console-quality games to mobile devices," Jan Takeuchi, Capcom deputy head of consumer games, said.

"Our Lost Planet 2 test demo makes it clear - the quad-core muscle of Tegra 3 brings hyper-realistic visuals, smooth frame rates and sharp images. The result is a whole new level of realism to content for smartphones and tablets."

Wishful thinking?

Unfortunately, a successful test demo doesn't guarantee an actual release, but it's still exciting to know it's a possibility. Plus, if the game runs as well as Capcom makes out, the developer would be silly not to slap it on the Android Market.

Capcom isn't the only developer singing the praises of Nvidia's new processor, mind, with Madfinger Games CEO Marek Rabas stating: "Thanks to Tegra 3’s quad-core CPUs, Shadowgun looks and plays the best on Tegra."

"Consumers are going to love the quad-core Shadowgun version – which features rag doll physics, console quality water simulation, particle effects, enhanced shaders, dynamic textures, and more."
