A few months back we told you about Lock's Quest (then known as Construction Combat: Lock's Quest) a puzzle/strategy game in the works from the creator of Drawn to Life.

Now, its publisher THQ has released the first screenshots of the game, and dished out a bit more information, too. Starting with the news the game includes four unique worlds and over 100 different areas.

What you'll be doing in these worlds is defending them from invasions. You play the game as a boy called Lock, who is his kingdom's last hope to survive a relentless attack. As as newly trained Archineer, Lock has the skills to customise towers and build walls, weapons and other defences in order to preserve the kingdom's precious artefacts.

So, you need to build up defences brick by brick, utilising different strategies and using different resources to see off a range of enemies. Along the way you collect coins and scraps in order to make new weapons and build and repair structures.

The game is broken into two different sections: Building mode, in which Lock has a time limit in which to build a solid defence; and Battle mode where you take part in one-on-one combat or launch special attacks to defeat invaders. The better you do in battle, the more coins and scraps you get to use for the next wave.

There's also a multi-card Battle option in which up to four players can compete.

The cross between standard tower defence game and strategy one should work, if our memory of the excellent Rampart is anything to go by. Lock's Quest is due out this autumn.
