Acer announces Android-powered Liquid Metal for UK in November
High-end FroYo handset for £299
Acer has officially revealed its new Android handset, the Liquid Metal, which will be available in the UK in November.
It’s a pretty capable device, too, running its 3.6-inch touchscreen and 5-megapixel camera (with LED flash) on an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 processor. That’s the same unit as the US-only T-Mobile G2.
Don’t let the sub-1Ghz clock rate deceive you – the MSM7230 is a new generation of Qualcomm processor, and benchmarks show that it knocks the likes of the Nexus One into a cocked hat. This is particularly so when it comes to gaming performance, which is believed to be roughly in the region of the Samsung Galaxy S.
The FroYo-powered Liquid Metal will stand out from the usual suspects by offering Acer’s custom Breeze UI, as well as the ability to play your music with EQ profiles and Dynamic Bass Boost.
It’ll be available in the UK in November for £299, and you’ll be able to have it in silver or – rather oddly – brown.
