Linkin Park starts an 8-Bit Rebellion on iPhone and iPad

Is the App Store somewhere they belong?

Linkin Park starts an 8-Bit Rebellion on iPhone and iPad

The App Store got a little bit more metal today with the release of Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!

Directly "From the imagination of Linkin Park", the rock-driven fighter leads you on a quest against PixxelKorp, an evil organisation turning the world into a high-res nightmare.

A place for my fingers

Your job is to side-scroll your way through a variety of dingy-looking districts, button-bashing the baddies and restoring 8-bit goodness to the world.

The gameplay looks a bit pap, but the customisation and community options are intriguing.

Players can create their hero and apartment to look exactly how they want, then go out socialising with fellow rebels.

Of course, it wouldn't be a rock band tie-in if it didn't feature some of the band's music. There are eight Linkin Park tracks on offer here, both in their original and 8-bit forms.

Along with an iPhone version, Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion! is also available for iPad as a separate app (rather than a Universal one), featuring much crisper graphics and a different interface.

If you're a Linkin Park fan, this may be right up your alley. Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion! is available from the App Store for $4.99 / £2.99.
