On PC it's caused quite a stir, enticing far too many people to spend much too long daubing a white canvas with lines to make a sort of race course for a little man to sled down.

On mobile phone it was less compelling. As you'd expect, frankly. Drawing with a mouse is much easier than doing it with a mobile phone keypad, and there lay Line Rider's biggest flaw on that format.

But if ever there was a platform suited to scribbling and sketching, it's DS, hence our excitement by today's first screenshots and videos (here and here) of Line Rider 2: Unbound on the handheld, not to mention the news the game should be released this summer, too.

As well as improved visuals (higher res black lines - what else can you do with it?), Line Rider on DS promises new game modes, riders, community features and creative tools. From the videos we've also deduced there'll be new colours, layers and stunts, and a finish line so tracks can't go on forever. After all, no-one wants to download a track another user has created only to find it goes on for 20 virtual miles.

Will it be as popular on DS as it was when it was free-to-play online? Only time will tell if it's a successful conversion, but with the DS and Line Rider such a seemingly perfect match we're hoping for good things from this very simple yet very addictive little creation.
