Video footage of DS medical drama Lifesigns released

Medical dramas are a staple of daytime TV thanks to their hunky doctors, cute nurses, and the ever-present danger of a small child's life leaking away as the aforementioned doctors and nurses decide to pull the plastic covers around an empty bed and let nature take its course.

And at least the glimmer of such behaviour seems to be present and correct in the video footage of Jowood's forthcoming DS game, Lifesigns: Hospital Affairs.

As we mentioned when news of the game first leaked out, Lifesigns looks like building on the atmosphere of Nintendo's much discussed (but arguably less played) touchscreen surgery simulation Trauma Center: Under the Knife, although hopefully without the overly tough difficulty levels or the wacky terrorism plot.

The label 'Soap adventure' that introduces the game video is encouraging, although the Tubular Bells/Exorcist-inspired theme music suggests bad things to come, and we're not just talking about the little run-over-girl's blood clots. We're also not really sure you can just sew up a skull like this:

With mini-games such as catching snakes, cooking and fishing all mentioned in the press release – but not shown in the video – what the actual experience will end up like is currently anyone's guess. Still, with a summer release noted on the clipboard at the end of the bed, it shouldn't be long before we find out whether the doctors and nurses of Lifesigns: Hospital Affairs know the difference between their elbows and that other particular part of their anatomy.
