While the latest update for Pocket God has you feeding pygmies to the fishes, Fuel Industries' new iPhone and iPod touch game is much more humanitarian.

Called Lifeboat, it uses a tilt control mechanism to get you sliding passengers off various sinking ships into the waiting lifeboats.

If you miss and drop them into the sea by mistake, you can quickly tap them back onboard, but you better be quick, otherwise they’ll be eaten by sharks. Maybe there's something of Pocket God in the game after all.

Saving passengers will net you cash, and this can be used to upgrade the experience, providing you with quicker controls, sturdier ballast to control the toppling ships, and swimming lessons for the passengers.

If you are so enabled, the game also makes use of OS 3.0's music customisation feature, allowing you to choose your own soundtrack of salvation.

Lifeboat is out now priced 99c or 59p. Hit the Buy It! button to go direct to the App Store.
