Lego The Lord of the Rings receives extended trailer

With European games event Gamescom starting Wednesday, developers and publishers are busy releasing new trailers for their upcoming games.

In its Gamescom trailer for Lego The Lord of the Rings, Traveller's Tales gives fans of hobbits and hobby blocks the chance to see most of the major characters from the franchise in their blocky Lego state.

Lego The Lord of the Rings is the latest mash-up involving Lego and a massively successful epic movie franchise. It is expected to launch for the Nintendo 3DS, DS, PS Vita, and a host of less portable consoles sometime in autumn 2012.

Speak up, won't you?

Similar to the E3 trailer posted in June, this Gamescom trailer for Lego The Lord of the Rings has the Lego characters speaking lines from the movies with full voice acting.

This is a marked departure from previous Lego games, which featured mute protagonists who communicated via grunts and gestures.

Whether these more loquacious Lego characters make it into the release copy of the game or are simply included to flesh out the trailers remains to be seen.
