Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 out for iPhone and iPad

With appropriate timing considering the launch of part 1 of the last movie in the Harry Potter series this weekend, Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 has hit the App Store.

In the usual gamic Lego form that's been honed over the years by TT Games, it combines the book and film franchises with gameplay based around blocks and their interactivity.

Gothic blocks

Spread across 40 levels, and over 100 characters, it brings the early years of Harry, Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts to life, including events such as the Triwizard Tournament, the Quidditch World Cup, the Basilisk battle in the Chamber of Secrets, the encounter with Aragog, and a confrontation with Lego Voldemort.

Other locations include Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest, the village of Hogsmeade, and the massively detailed Hogwarts castle itself.

Character customisation is a big part of the game, while you'll also get to cast spells, mix potions, fly on broomsticks, explore the world, solve puzzles and duel.

And as well as the main Story mode, there's also a Freeplay mode, which contains new areas.

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is available now for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad as a universal app (although the iPad version requires the delayed iOS 4.2 release to work).

It costs $4.99, €3.99 or £2.99.
