This game's getting crowded

First Lego Batman DS screenshots revealed, along with Nightwing, Clayface and Bane bonus characters

We've previously told you about how excited we are about the prospect of Lego Batman: The Video Game. We were delighted to learn of Lego Batman's announcement, thrilled to bring you the first Lego Batman details, giddy about the revelation of that Harley Quinn would be in it, and just about suffered heart seizure when the last batch of information came through.

Well, better unpack the defibrillator because we've just had the first DS images delivered.

And if proof were needed that Traveller's Tales really wants us in a morgue, along with the images came news of three new bonus characters to feature in the game.

Let's begin with the goodie, shall we? Nightwing is the first Robin's alternate solo name and so the character shares the same traits – he's an expert martial artist, trained gymnast and escape artist, accomplished in stealth and espionage techniques and familiar with all aspects of criminology. And, of course, he can make use of all of Robin's technology suits. Well, they're his, in a way.

Bane, meanwhile, is the product of four decades of incarceration, with a military experiment based around the drug Venom thrown in for good measure. The resulting abnormally strong, master strategist and expert combatant has previously given Batman a very hard time (he broke his back, which is pretty harsh). In the game Bane has the ability to pass through toxic gases, while his strength enables him to carry and throw enormous objects.

Completing the trio is Clayface (pictured). Previously an actor that lost it and began killing without remorse, Clayface, like Bane, possesses immense strength but can also change shape, mimic the powers of any superhero or villain he copies, and melt others into protoplasm with just a touch. Charming. In the game, he possesses a super jump to reach areas other characters can't reach, while his brute force sees him smash through walls. Oh, and he can also make his body elastic.

That's all we have, new info-wise. Which is handy as our Albert-voiced alarm clock is beaming out a mini Bat-Signal; our call to go down to our Batcave-like cafeteria where our batarang-shaped potato waffles (and a cardboard cut-out of Vicki Vale) await.
