Left or Right Ambidextrous Challenge announced for DS

If brain training games do work, DS owners must be on their way to levelling up the intelligence of the human race. We've lost count of the number of press releases landing in our laps for DS games promising improved IQ, memory and hand-eye coordination.

Perhaps if we'd done more training ourselves, we wouldn't have. Lost count, that is.

Anyway, Left Brain Right Brain, announced by Majesco US but set to be published under the name Left or Right Ambidextrous Challenge by 505 Games here in the UK, might sound like just another identical entry in the brain fitness genre. However, it's actually a little different to the norm.

"Left Brain Right Brain offers a fresh twist to the brain game genre by integrating gameplay that develops manual dexterity as well as mental agility," says Majesco marketing vice president, Ken Gold, while mentally disproving Einstein's theory of relativity to himself. For fun.

"Whether you're a 'righty' or 'lefty', the game's challenging drills will ultimately help each hand keep pace with your brain."

It seems the game will do this using 15 different events testing speed, accuracy, association, recognition, memory and strategy. The DS is held sideways, like a book, and the games are controlled by rotating the handheld, apparently improving coordination with dominant and non-dominant hands.

And as well as games to give your brain cells a boost, Left or Right Ambidextrous Challenge promises DS download play and wireless multiplayer against a friend.

The game is due for release on November 16th. Stay tuned brain game junkies and geniuses in training – we'll let you know once it's reviewed if you just click 'Track It!'.
