LG, LG, LG. What is it with you and leaked handsets? Fresh from confirming what everyone already knew about the “World's first and fastest dual-core smartphone,” the LG Optimus 2X, the Korean firm now finds itself having to button lips over a new device.

Amazingly, though, this one looks to be even more special than the last one. Snaps of the so-called LG B have emerged on Phandroid, and they show a device that’s both brighter and thinner than the current leading lights.

Sat in between an iPhone 4 and a Samsung Galaxy S, the LG B appears to outshine both.

Pictures can be deceptive, of course – especially when they’re of the blurry and poorly-lit variety, as they are here.

Fortunately, there’s an accompanying table (see picture gallery) to back them up. This confirms that the LG device is brighter than its rivals, producing 700 nits of brightness to the iPhone’s 500 and the Galaxy S’s 300.

Apparently ‘nit’ relates to a unit of visible-light intensity, rather than head lice. So that’s alright, then.

The leaked pictures also seem to hint at a pretty slim device – one that’s even thinner than the “world’s thinnest smartphone” (according to Apple), the iPhone 4.

In another instance of comedy PR, LG posted a tweet confirming the leak’s validity, before swiftly pulling the comment. The Twittersphere being the Twittersphere, it didn’t stay pulled, of course.

“Seein is believin,” read the offending LG tweet. “The super slim and super bright “LG B” Android phone. Come to CES and see with your own eyes!”
