RUSH

If only rat-race rush hour driving had this much potential…

Midway has just announced its long-running console franchise will be screeching its way onto PSP around September time. The essence of RUSH may be racing, but it's racing with jumps and crazy stunts thrown in – the game's five LA-based locations feature treacherous shortcuts that seem intent on sending your ride (one of the 50 available to trick out and pimp up to Westwood standard) bonnet first into the nearest scrapyard.

If you've got the skills, though, you'll want to show them off. And what better way than engage in the game's PSP-exclusive Stunt Arena, where an environment filled with ramps and loop-de-loops awaits. For those that prefer to face up to human opponents, the wi-fi head-to-head races should hopefully provide suitable entertainment.

No fellow PSP owner around? No problem. There's a Story mode in which you race to earn respect and street credit in order to ultimately retrieve the 30 cars that have been taken from you. In addition, there are 'Retribution' missions, where the idea is to steal your enemies' rides and trash them for cash.

It all sounds like a lot of fun. The moment we get our hands on the RUSH UMD we'll let you know how well it all translates into pocket gaming.
