He's fat, he's pink, he doesn't kick up a stink... poor old Kirby. He's not really one of Nintendo gaming greats. After all, rumour is his amorphous shape was only invented as a piece of placeholder graphics while the artist searched for more inspiration.

Still, he's useful enough when it comes to filling out the character choices in the likes of Super Smash Bros. And sometimes he's in the right place at the right time, as was the case with 2006's innovative touchscreen game Kirby: Power Paintbrush.

His next outing is the more traditionally-controlled Kirby: Mouse Attack, which has already been released as Kirby Squeak Squad in the US – you can click below to check out some cute platforming footage.

Quite why Nintendo Europe decided to change the name of the game, we're unsure. To our ears, Mouse Attack sounds a bit to similar to being a ratcatcher, but at least the release date has finally been pinned down, albeit seven months after the US.

You can expect to find Kirby: Mouse Attack behind the skirting boards of game stores on June 22nd; don't miss our earlier review of the identical US release.
