The Amazon Appstore version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition has been updated to version 0.12, ahead of its Google Play counterpart.

That means those rocking a Kindle device (or just an Android with the Amazon Underground app) can try out all the new features right now. iOS owners, and Android fans using the Google Play version, will have to wait a few more days.

0.12 adds the hellish Nether region (and all its inhabitants), weather effects like rain and snow, cross platform play with Windows 10, controller support, and the ability to tweak the interface of the game.

Plus, you can now sprint and sneak, brew potions and enchant items, score critical hits, and die of hunger. Difficulty modes, including Peaceful and Hard, let you set your own pace and you'll meet new mobs like ocelots, snow golems, and ghasts.
