Hothead Games laying down its Kard Combat on the iPhone and iPad table 'soon'
Canada-only right now, the world later
DeathSpank developer Hothead Games has released its card battling game Kard Combat onto the Canadian App Store.
Or rather, it’s just told us that it has released its card battling game Kard Combat onto the Canadian App Store. In fact, according to the App Store and the company’s Facebook page, the game went live at the beginning of June.
As we revealed in our interview with the company back in May, Kard Combat is not too dissimilar to the classic pocket-money guzzler Magic: The Gathering (or Pokemon, if you’re ‘one of those’) in which you square off against another player, taking cards from your deck and second-guessing his moves.
It’s been co-developed by Mr Magic: The Gathering himself, Richard Garfield (creator of the original game), so it has some pedigree behind it.
Kard Combat is free to download, with the full game unlockable for CAN$2.99 right now. Multiplayer is free, and there are over 100 cards to collect and 33 single-player campaign missions to fight through.
There's no word on when the title will see a launch worldwide, but we suspect it won't be too long now.
