Justice League coming to PSP

Superstrength in numbers: the world's finest superheroes unite for crime-fighting adventure

Justice League coming to PSP

You'd think that if the prospect of coming up against a superhero fills a criminal with dread, the idea of coming up against seven would pretty much guarantee a swift and drastic reconsideration of career.

Thankfully for the Justice League – a super crime-fighting group comprising Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter – there are supervillains with sufficient self-assurance to stick around, providing the magnificent seven with a purpose to what would otherwise be a very dull existence.

It also means that a videogame based on their exploits is a potentially worthwhile investment. Very little detail has been revealed so far, other than that the game enables you to control every member of the League, complete with individual superpowers. Granted, that's as obvious a revelation as exposing Superman by removing Clark Kent's glasses. Less obvious, however, is the fact that more characters are promised and the plot is being penned by experienced comic book writer Dwayne McDuffie (currently writer/producer on the Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited series).

As a little background, the Justice League's adventures date back to 1940, when DC Comics introduced the concept of superhero bonding with its Justice Society of America series. It subsequently became known as the Justice League of America and continues to be a monthly comic book and animated TV series.

This is not the first time a Justice League game has been announced, either. Back in 2003, Midway proudly claimed such a title was on its way to home consoles. The fact that, to date, nothing has materialised, is far easier to explain than the purpose of Wonder Woman's invisible plane (which categorically fails to conceal whoever's flying it), as publishing/development deals fall through all the time.

Let's just hope the same fate doesn't await this version, then. Certainly, developer Snowblind seems intent on releasing the finished product this autumn.
