Panasonic to launch MMO-capable Jungle portable gaming console

Panasonic is attempting to eliminate the isolated, home-bound image of MMO gaming with a new handheld system, the Jungle.

Resembling a chunky clamshell, the linux-powered Jungle comes complete with a QWERTY keyboard, and will probably access the internet via wi-fi.

Panasonic is yet to release the full system specs, but the recently launched official site states that "this mean little machine features a kick ass display, touch pad, keyboard, and other gaming controls that we'll be saying more about soon."

The website also features a video of the imminent browser based MMO, Battlestar Galactica Online. The game's release later this year should prove to be a good benchmark for the Jungle's capabilities.

Panasonic is expected to release the Jungle mid-2011.
