After the success of Grim Joggers, Finnish developer 10tons has opted for something a little more lighthearted for its newest iOS release.

The adorable / sickeningly twee (delete as appropriate) Joining Hands has hit the App Store today, and it’s a puzzle game with a cute twist on handholding gameplay.

The goal of the game is to move forest creatures called Peablins around a grid until they’re all holding hands – because they believe that will keep the lurking bogeymen at bay. Awwwwwww.

Trouble is, some Peablins have more hands to hold than others, and they won’t be satisfied until they have another Peablin mitt grasping each one. These will move their hands automatically to greet a Peablin in an adjacent space, but then new breeds come along which aren’t quite so flexible.

A stronger Peablin, for example, has hands that won’t move, but a body that can rotate to fit, while emo-fringed versions just want to be alone, refusing to cheer up until they have free space all around them.

With around 90 levels and more coming soon, it should keep your brain busy for a fair while. It’s a universal app, too, so those cute-as-a-button visuals should look sharp whichever iOS device you’re playing it on.

Joining Hands is available to buy now for £1.79 / $2.99 / €2.39. If your curiosity is piqued, have a watch of the introductory video below to see how it plays.
