Carribbean-themed bob-sledding on your phone

Thanks to Cool Runnings, everybody knows about the heroics of the Jamaican Bobsled team in the 1988 Winter Olympics. Well, everybody who watched the film does, anyway. The rest of you might be a little hazy.

Never fear, because Glu Mobile is launching a mobile game based on the team’s exploits, with the admirably does-what-it-says-on-the-tin name of Jamaican Bobsled. It’s got two gameplay modes - Arcade and full-on medal-seeking Championship – and thirty tracks to slide down.

Oh, and there’s a variety of power-ups, including speed boosts, super jumps, magnets and shields. Which as far as we can remember, aren’t actually allowed in Olympic-level bob-sledding, but we might be rusty on the rules and regulations.

The game is out in North America (and presumably Jamaica) now, and will be coming to Europe in the next few months. Don’t Glu know that curling is the only Winter Olympic event that counts? Well, the only one us Brits are any good at, anyway...
