New Jak and Daxter adventure found for PSP

It’s the The Lost Frontier, of course

New Jak and Daxter adventure found for PSP

Presumably this was the sort of game Sony was referring to as it’s been talking up the PSP’s 2009 release schedule. With over six million Jak and Daxter games sold just in Europe - mainly on PlayStation 2 it has to be said - the silent protagonist and his chippy sidekick are viewed by Sony as one of its key franchises.

Certainly the PSP-only Daxter was a great example of such action platforming, and sold well, shifting over two million games globally.

And so to Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier. It’s being developed for PSP (and PS2), and sees the duo picking up from where the original Jak and Daxter trilogy left off and helping their friend Kiera on her quest to become a Sage and save their world from the threat of darkness.

Yes, it’s all about “dark eco” and saving the environment of their dying planet. Ring any bells?

As well as the usual leaping around, you’ll also be able to take to the air in one of five different craft (don’t worry about your carbon footprint - it’s a game). Once up in the sky, you’ll get to blast airborne enemies and battle sky pirates with your powerful Gunstaff - a new weapon that transforms into other new weapons.

Al Gore will, no doubt, be pleased.

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is due for release sometime in the autumn.
