LucasArts bringing new Indiana Jones game to DS and PSP?

You might argue that - LEGO Indiana Jones aside - Indiana Jones's reinvention for the 21st century would be better off being slung in a snake-infested tomb and forgotten about.

But it looks like Indy's not done just yet.

For a couple of years now, LucasArts has had an Indiana Jones game lurking on its release schedule. From early screenshots, the PS3 and Xbox 360 game was looking like a third-person action game, but the publisher never really got round to saying much about it. Its placeholder title is still Indiana Jones 2007, which - seeing as it's now 2008 - gives an indication the game might not exactly be on-track.

However, there's been a surprise development in the saga of LucasArts's Indiana Jones as reported today by Siliconera. It seems a DS and PSP title called Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings has just been submitted to PEGI for rating.

Has Indiana Jones 2007 for PS3 and Xbox 360 turned into Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for DS and PSP? Anything is possible. We just hope the fact we've heard absolutely nothing about this game until now doesn't mean it's going to be quite the disappointment the latest film was. You've got to admit though, it's not looking good.
