ARGENTINA Catcha Mouse 3 (Odasoft)

VS ESTONIA Fling! (Candycane)

Following the South Korean victory in the lunchtime kick off, Argentina and Estonia squared off in the afternoon sun beneath the Pocket Gamer twin towers, looking to follow their example and join the lead at the top of Group B.

Perhaps sensing a tactical battle, the two national team managers decided to field a pair of puzzlers.

Sporting the blue and white stripes of Argentina today, Catcha Mouse 3 featured the nation’s videogaming equivalent of Lionel Messi – short, nippy and almost impossible to pin down.

Staring Odasoft’s wee rodent down in the warm-up, Candycane and Fling!’s colourful furballs were clearly not intimidated by their opponent’s smack talk in the press conference yesterday.

Kick Off: 3pm, 12th June The critical view: Out of the gates quicker than a champion racehorse, Fling! soon opened the scoring with its simple, yet rewarding build-up play and well-executed series of swipes.

Capitalising on their great start, the Estonians began to grow in confidence, brandishing their many critical awards (including a bronze from Pocket Gamer handed out for the incredible number of levels available) as they strolled to a second score.

2-0 up and seemingly coasting to victory, the Eastern Europeans took their foot off the gas, thinking ahead perhaps to their next group game.

Despite this though, the Argentines had no real answer to the Estonian onslaught. Though they tried to lay traps across the park and stop the opponents darting through gaps in the midfield, nothing was coming off. The multiplayer options introduced just before half time did impress, but not sufficiently to find the net.

A disappointing 45 then from the South Americans. A dressing room dressing down was on the cards.

Half time: Argentina 0 – 2 Estonia The Fans' 45: Imploring the massed ranks of Catcha Mouse supporters (and with 2.5 million downloads of the original alone that's quite a community) to get behind their trailing Argentina side, Odasoft's coaching staff were desperate to turn things around in the second half, but to no avail.

Although a section of the community did make their voices heard, evidently the tactical acumen of Fling! had taken the sting out of the opposition and their own vocal supporters pushed them onto a third. Unsurprisingly, Argentine fans left early in droves, missing a late consolation from the scurrying midfielder which squeaked in at the far post.
