Phew, for a second there, we thought we'd have to add another genre such as Pacifist or Political Protest to our game listings. But as luck would have it, I Hate Guns from new Polish developer Funandmobile appears to be a relatively standard platform and fighting combo.

To be fair, the protagonist, one Dan McGrady (anyone else think he looks like Bruce Springsteen?), doesn't pack a pistol. This ex-cop prefers to let his karate chopping fists and feet do the talking as he wades through waves of unfortunate Middle Eastern opponents in pursuit of his friend's killer.

Alongside the inevitable 'intriguing storyline', the press release promises six stages of action plus a final battle, intuitive customisable controls providing for different attacks including combos, and up to 18 opponents on screen at any one time – all of which may have differing weapons, tactics and attacks.

Funandmobile also boasts that breathtaking environments and over 900 frames of animation are set to assault our eyes. But it could be the audio that stands out, with the 'ear-catching' 3D sounds including over 70 effects (sadly, as best we can tell there's no rendition of Born in the USA).

The game is available now via Handango for Series 60 handsets (a J2ME version is in development).

So, will the newcomer be able to boss the mobile action game scene without a weapon? Click 'Track It!' or stay tuned for our review to find out.
