Hockey Nations 2011 skating onto Nvidia Tegra Zone

Nvidia has just dropped us a line to say that one of the upcoming Tegra games scheduled for release later in the year will be the Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning Hockey Nations 2011, from Distinctive Developments.

The game puts you in charge of one of 18 rumbustious international hockey teams, or 40 customisable ‘city’ teams over seven game modes including a World League and quick-fire Shootouts.

Interestingly, while many football/soccer games shy away from the more ‘controversial’ elements of their subject sports, Hockey Nations 2011 THD also comes with a fighting mini-game that you can start up on the ice, allowing you to take a few wild blows before being sent to the sin bin.

The new Tegra release comes packed with enchanced graphical effects such as specular mapping on the players (allowing some bits to be shinier than others) and animated crowds, which should make it the best-looking version of the game available.

Hockey Nations 2011 THD doesn’t have a specific release date or pricing just yet, but it'll be available "soon".
