Square Enix reveals Heroes of Ruin 3DS social gaming details
Hell is for Heroes of Ruin
JRPG bastion Square Enix has given the gaming world some more details about its new n-Space-developed franchise Heroes of Ruin for 3DS.
The game features four main characters brought together, in typical JRPG fashion, to save the world from evil. You have to fight your way through a fantastical land with swords, guns, and bow staffs aplenty, all while collecting loot and smashing mystical beasts.
So far so ordinary, but today's announcement contains some interesting new information about the title's online and social gaming integration.
Heroes of Ruin will utilise the 3DS Streetpass system to provide a traders' network, which allows players to trade loot with those around them. This means an ever-changing list of trade items will become available as players pass each other in real life.
You'll also be able to benefit from wi-fi hotspots through the 3DS SpotPass system, which will reward you with unique items when you take to your real-life mount (or bicycle).
There will be a constantly changing in-game world that you can tackle in single-player or via drop in/out co-op play.
