E3 2008: Hell's Kitchen to cook up a f***ing storm on DS

As if we don't get enough hassle in our day-to-day lives, Ubisoft is set to give us even more from our DS courtesy of Hell's Kitchen: The Video Game.

The publisher has picked up the game from developer Ludia and it's sounding a bit like Cooking Mama with swearing. Hell's Kitchen puts players into a high-pressure kitchen and dining room with a 3D rendered Gordon Ramsay watching – and commenting on – their every move.

The game is broken into three phases – preparation, cooking and service – with a red-faced Ramsay shouting accordingly throughout. As you progress through the game, you'll be rewarded with access to recipes from Ramsay's repertoire.

In Career mode, you earn stars to build your way up from a single-star restaurant to a five-star establishment. The further you get, the more intricate recipes become. In the Arcade option, the goal is to keep up with customers' demands for as long as possible, or Ramsay loses patience and closes your kitchen down.

The game is set for worldwide release in September 2008.

"I had a great time doing the voice for my own animation," said celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. "Being in a video game is a new experience for me and I'm very pleased with the results."

Which are probably the least obscenity-ridden two sentences he's ever said.

Anyway, Hell's Kitchen: The Video Game Ubisoft announcement: done.

(Oh, the screenshots above are from the PC and Wii versions.)
