EA bringing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to DS, PSP and mobile

Electronic Arts has announced that it intends to release a Harry Potter video game alongside the forthcoming film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It'll be available on a range of formats, including the holy trinity of DS, PSP, and mobile.

Apparently, the book is all about some children with magical abilities looking for the author of a tome on potions. Somebody called Snape tries to get in their way. He fails, of course, but not before killing somebody called Dumbledore.

Oh, *spoiler alert.*

"We believe that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game represents a milestone in the movie tie-in genre," says Harvey Elliott, head of EA Bright Light studio. "The team here is working closely with the film-makers to create an immersive interactive experience that captures the story, the action, the excitement and, above all, the fun of the film."

All very well, but the Potter games haven't really shone up to now, incurring Pocket Gamer strap-lines like "How not to pull a rabbit out of a hat," and "Roll up for the magical mystery bore." Oh dear.

Nevertheless, EA is in the midst of a quality initiative, and our own Kath Brice – who got a sneak preview yesterday - had this to add: "it actually looks alright." Click 'Track It!' to get word of the full preview.
