French developer Godzi Labs released its incredibly adorable shop builder Happy Street into the Canadian App Store recently, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

As freemium building games become increasingly common, it takes a special combination of gameplay and aesthetic elements to differentiate a new game from the rest of the pack.

Happy Street decides to use cuteness as its weapon, and it uses it well.

Shop 'til you drop

Characters gambol about the screen in a walk eerily reminiscent of a slow-motion version of the running man, and buildings - shops which you build to get the cute characters to buy stuff - all exude a considerable amount of character and charm.

There's even a pigeon that flies over which you have to get to poop on the characters below to gain rewards.

Yes, it's that kind of crazy game.

There is still no official Happy Street release date for Europe or the United States, but we will keep you updated with that information as it becomes available.
