Rumour: HTC's first Windows Phone 8 handsets revealed
Windows into the future
After Microsoft's official first look at Windows Phone 8 last night, a source at HTC has apparently revealed the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer's plans for the platform to The Verge.
It looks like the first three Windows 8 phones from HTC are going to be the entry level Rio, the mid-range Accord, and the Zenith at, well, the zenith.
Her name is...The baby of the bunch, the Rio will have a 4-inch WVGA screen, 512MB of on board RAM, and a pretty impressive Qualcomm MSM8227 processor, which is part of the Snapdragon S4 family.
Then there's the accord, with a slightly larger 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD2 screen, and an 8 megapixel camera. It's not clear exactly what processor is going to be running the phone, but the source suggests it's likely to be a dual core Snapdragon with a gig of RAM.
Reaching the topFinally there's the brutish sounding Zenith, which weighs in with an impressive 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display, and an as yet unknown quad core Snapdragon processor.
The Rio and the Accord are expected to be released in October, with the Zenith given a vague release date of Q4 2012.
If the source turns out to be correct, it looks like HTC is going to have some pretty impressive Windows Phone 8 hardware out in the wild by the end of the year.
