HTC announces two new Android handsets, Desire Z and Desire HD
You might know them as the G2 and Evo
HTC has officially announced two new Android handsets, the Desire Z and the Desire HD.
The Desire Z will be known to T-mobile US customers as the G2, the follow-up to the very first Android handset. It resembles the original Desire at first glance, but distinguishes itself with a slide-out "pop hinge" QWERTY keyboard.
The handset features a 3.7-inch touchscreen, an 800MHz processor, and a five-megapixel camera. It’ll run on Android 2.2 (Froyo).
As will the Desire HD, which is a mammoth 4.3-inch device that’s better known as the Evo 4G in the US. This handset dwarfs the Desire Z in specs as well as dimensions, with a 1GHz processor and 8-megapixel camera.
It’s a solidly built device, having been “sculpted from a block of solid aluminium” according to the HTC blurb.
Both devices are expected in October on £35 per month contracts, although online retailer Play has the Desire Z listed at an unsubsidised price of £429.99 and the Desire HD at £469.99.
