HTC Desire to get Gingerbread update 'by the end of July'
|

HTC Desire owners have been led down the garden path recently, with the somewhat schizophrenic Taiwanese vendor initially announcing that the Desire handset would not be receiving the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS update.

24 hours later, HTC changed its mind, confirming once and for all via Facebook that the Gingerbread update would be coming to the Desire.

Now, HTC has released an official statement, stating that the next iteration of the Android OS should be hitting the Desire “by the end of July”. It also added "Thank you again for your support!", though it probably should have ended "for your sanity!"

Don’t get too excited by this announcement, mind - we still have no idea about which features of HTC's Sense UI will be chopped to ensure the new version of the mobile operating system runs smoothly.
