HTC Desire coming to every major UK operator
Nexus One rival will appear on all five networks
Looking back at this year’s MWC in Barcelona, it took a special handset to make itself noticed amidst all the hullabaloo - especially with a certain Microsoft announcement hogging all the column inches.
It’s a testament to the HTC Desire’s potential, then, that it managed to impress the gathered hordes.
It’s easy to see why: a sparkly AMOLED 3.7-inch screen will display Android 2.1 running on a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 512MB of ROM, and 576MB of RAM. It’ll also feature a 5 megapixel camera, GPS and wi-fi.
It’s essentially the Nexus One with HTC’s custom Sense UI.
Now it’s emerged that the Desire will be appearing on all five major UK operators this spring. T-Mobile should be first in line with a claimed March 26th release date, but Orange, O2, Vodafone, and 3 shouldn’t be too far behind.
If you’re operator agnostic, and are wondering who to go with, then you might be interested to know that there should be a fair amount of customisation for each network’s offering. 3’s Desire effort, for example, will come preinstalled with Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Email on 3, Twitter, and Facebook apps.
Whichever network you choose, the Desire is looking to be one spicy meatball of a phone.
