Physical QWERTY WP7 handset ready to duke it out with Dell Venue Pro

HTC 7 Pro arriving on UK networks in February

There’s an old fallback method for padding out phone stories that practically every tech site uses - paragraph after paragraph of internal details regarding the CPU, GPU, camera and whatnot.

Unfortunately for me, that’s a little harder with a new WP7 handset, because, as the HTC 7 Pro demonstrates, they’re all very similar in design and spec.

So if I said 1Ghz CPU, 5MP camera with flash, and 720p recording I can imagine most of you thinking ‘yeah, yeah. So’s my Omnia 7/Optimus 7/HD7 - what’s new?’

It’s a slight relief, then, to find that the HTC 7 Pro manages to find a way of differentiating itself from the norm by including a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. A bit like the Dell Venue Pro, another WP7 phone, only horizontally placed rather than a pull-down vertical design.

Fans of typing out documents on physical keyboards that haven’t gone with the Dell already (though it's only available in the US at present) will be pleased to know that HTC's ‘productivity’ WP7 phone is now confirmed as appearing in the UK next month, although pricing, networks, and any guarantee it won’t slip again are not forthcoming at this time.
