Rumours point to a webOS tablet from HP

The HP Slate may be dead in the water, but rumours have emerged that the computer maker is now working on a webOS tablet codenamed Hurricane.

Following on from our Tablet rumour round-up last week, we mentioned that it would be likely for HP to develop either an Android and/or WebOS-based tablet to fill the void left by the departure of the Windows 7-based HP Slate.

Now reports from ‘insiders’ say that Palm had been in the process of developing its own tablet PC running webOS before the company ran out of money.

Having subsequently bought the smartphone maker, HP is now said to be continuing the development of the webOS device, codenamed Hurricane, and will be looking to launch it in the third quarter of this year.
