Guitar Hero reality TV show or concert tour a possibility

Some might argue that musicians were phased out of the music industry a long time ago, but apparently Activision might be considering making a reality TV show our of the concept using its Guitar Hero brand.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said: “[Guitar Hero] might make for a good TV show or a good concert tour.”

Although it’s a little hard to imagine thousands of Aerosmith fans flocking to a concert to see a spotty 14-year-old oik staring intently at a TV screen on stage while pressing buttons on a plastic controller (hard to imagine - not impossible), the moronic nature of reality TV has stooped a lot lower than this idea in recent years.

Quite how the show would work is anybody’s guess, though presumably it’d be built around pretending to destroy the lives of five contestants while the sixth gets a real life record contract and a solid gold Guitar Hero controller (which they’d deserve, after beating the devil in a competition like this).

Charlie Brooker could present it.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
