Guitar Hero: On Tour to get own DS hardware bundle
Further proof Guitar Hero could be the big hit of the summer
Nintendo is partnering up with Activision to launch a special DS hardware bundle for the upcoming Guitar Hero: On Tour, it was revealed at a recent Activision conference.
Activision's Mike Griffith said Nintendo was "impressed" with the innovative game and fret peripheral. And this seems to have resulted in the company deciding to release a special bundle, the price of which is yet to be announced, although the game and fret peripheral is expected to retail at £39.99.
GameDaily recently reported on Signal Hill Capital Group analyst Todd Greenwold – presumably a man in the know – who predicted the title was likely to sell millions of units at launch and shouldn't be underestimated. US retailers are apparently planning heavy support of the title, too.
The news of Nintendo's show of confidence indicates Greenwold could be on the right track – though we maintain that there's no guarantee the success the Guitar Hero games have enjoyed on home consoles is any indication of how it might perform on handheld, much as the concept appeals.
But at this stage all we're really interested in is whether the hardware bundle will come with a special edition guitar daubed DS that matches the funky fret peripheral. Here's hoping.
