Activision has just released new images of the most excellent looking Guitar Hero: On Tour which, as well as showing us more greasy looking rockers and coloured notes we just know we're going to be pulling tendons trying to hit when the game comes out in June, also include a few shots of its multiplayer mode.

The game's two-player option is playable over local wireless either co-operatively or competitively; the latter of which plays similarly to console game Guitar Hero III: Legend of Rock's Battle mode.

So, items are rewarded to players for completing sections of a song without hitting a bum note, which can then be thrown across to the other player in an attempt to mess up their game. One screenshot shows one of the new DS items which sets your opponent's guitar on fire so they have to blow into the DS mic to put it out before they can carry on rawking.

One of the other shots also shows the Amp Overload item being used, which featured in Guitar Hero III. This one makes the player's fret board shake and go blurry so it becomes hard to make out the oncoming notes they're trying to hit.

Other Guitar Hero III items include Broken String, which forces the other player to fix a string before they can keep strumming.

Of the 20 tracks included in the game (both new and some taken from previous games), five have been named online. You can look forward to shredding along to 'Spiderwebs' by No Doubt, 'All the Small Things' by Blink-182, 'Do What You Want' by OK Go, 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' by Jet and 'We're Not Gonna Take It' by Twisted Sister. All are the original tracks.

If you've yet to see what all the excitement surrounding Guitar Hero: On Tour is about, check out the official video here. If you're not impressed after that, you must either only own a PSP or be a regular Classic FM listener.
