Guinness World Records: The Videogame coming to DS

Guinness World Records: The Videogame coming to DS

On first impressions it sounds like a slightly ridiculous idea for a game. In our mind, record breakers are usually people who grow long beards, spin hundreds of plates at the same time or eat 30 boiled eggs in under a minute. How exactly does that translate into a good DS game?

But having digested the first information on Guinness World Records, we're thinking perhaps there's a chance it could be good. Especially if the numerous records included in it are made into decent mini-games. After all, the mobile version was perfectly respectable.

Firstly though, the important details. Guiness World Records is being developed by TT Games – that's the studio behind the Lego Star Wars games – and published by Warner Bros. It'll be packed full of world records, and players will be able to observe the most remarkable records and also – of course – play them.

The game's 'action challenges' are playable solo, in teams or as competitive multi-player group games, and – somehow – you'll be able to play at completing all sorts of records, from walking a tightrope across the Grand Canyon to growing the longest fingernails ever seen. We're very intrigued how the latter is going to work. Your ultimate prize after attempting these challenges is to get your name in a (virtual) Guinness World Records book.

TT Games describes the game as "fresh and fun" and it'll also be playable by gamers of all ages. Personally, we're looking forward to seeing what the studio can do with the pretty versatile world of record breaking. Guinness World Records is being made for Wii as well as DS and both versions are scheduled for an autumn release.
