Ah! The smell of war to kick off the working week - there's nothing quite like it.

You can get your dose as Freeverse, together with UK developer Strange Flavour, have released their take on the old Amiga classic Cannon Fodder in the shape of Warpack: Grunts.

Expect plenty of cartoon mayhem as your squad of four heroes follow your finger and fight their way through 40 levels of sniping, grenade-lobbing, tank attacks and chopper mini-bosses in the campaign to take down the Evil Dude (probably not Jeff Bridges drinking a black Russian, but we can live in hope).

Note, the game works in landscape and portraits modes too.

And in keeping with the times, the game will also enable you to select your own soundtrack thanks to support for 3.0 OS's music library access. Cue that iTunes search for Ride of the Valkyries right now.

Warpack: Grunts is out now for iPhone and iPod touch, priced 99c or 59p. What was that Freeverse boss Ian Lynch Smith was telling us about the value comparison to DS and PSP?
