Rumour: You'll soon be able to download apps and other content from Google Play with gift cards
|

A rummage through Google Play's recently updated APK file has unearthed evidence that suggests The Big G will soon release gift cards. These will enable you to download apps, games, books, and more from its digital store.

The new APK purportedly intercepts links to the URL play.google.com/redeem, and features code that references in-app activity related to redeeming gift cards (see images below).

Hackers have even been able to gain access to gift code redemption pages.

These gift cards will allow budding shoppers who don't want to link a credit card to their account to purchase goods from Google's marketplace, and will aid Google Play in its ongoing battle with Apple's iTunes Store and App Store.
