The last putt has dropped in the US Open and Bubba's now wearing the green jacket, but that doesn't mean it's the end of season for golf games.

Scottish developer Dynamo Games is about to tee off with a new hybrid genre - puzzle golf.

Its Golf² (literally Golf Squared), will challenge you to take the minimum number of shots to guide your ball over sparkling waterfalls and perilous bunkers, bouncing through tunnels, off of cliffs and dealing with harsh changes of direction as it hits undulating slopes to hopefully land on lush greens.

The art style looks interesting, mixing cartoon cute with a certain cubist edge: we're guessing that's where the title comes from.

Also surprising is that Golf² will launch exclusively for the new iPad, although there are plans to bring it to high-end Android devices too.

It's due to be released some time in April.
