Will 3D glasses make Glory Days 2 stand out on DS?

Just another senseless war

Will 3D glasses make Glory Days 2 stand out on DS?

Attacking an enemy command centre with tanks, helicopters, V2s, drones and bombers sounds like our idea of fun, but we have to admit we're not quite sure how it'll work out in practice in the just-announced Glory Days 2 DS – Brotherhood of Men.

The press release claims the game is based around a simple premise – two sides at war – but then wanders through a huge explanation of a title that seems to have everything in it, even optional use of 3D glasses.

Is it turn-based or a real-time strategy game? We're not sure. The apparently mocked-up screenshots hint at both. We're also told we can fly our own helicopters or planes, bombard the enemy with special weapons, conserve our ground troops and – what's this? – buy more by flying civilians and preserving bunkers. So it's an action game?

We're confused; maybe you can do better. Here's an excerpt from the press release:

"Cutting edge technologies have been incorporated with impressive AI to ensure both human and weapon behavioural implementation to present a sense of awareness and reality. Glory Days 2 DS – Brotherhood of Men also takes full advantage of the Nintendo DS's dual screens, with innovative touch screen direction of the action – flying and directing your helicopter, V2 and drone via touch screen and pad, whilst control of your plane is through the pad only for maximum quick input – has never been so exciting, spontaneous and precise."

Ready for more? Deep breathes!

"Glory Days 2 DS – Brotherhood of Men delivers immersive and compelling multiplayer options where friends can compete against each other, which is a special orientation by the developer, ODenis Studio. Epic multiplaying 2 player competition, along with huge 4 cooperative play, allows individuals to show off their skills as well as working as a team. Distinct objectives can be assigned to each player from controlling and saving civilians in a helicopter, whilst a friend controls air space in a plane, to form the perfect alliance of skills."

We're also assured that:

"Glory Days 2 DS – Brotherhood of Men features a huge playarea boasting eight different environments, with 9 variations on each (graph or weather). The battlefields vary in size from 4 to 8 km which allow for more skilful and exciting play."

Okay, okay, we'll take over again. We've also gleaned that the multiplayer mode will support two to eight players and that there are 16 missions in total which you play through as three different pilots (ah, so it's all about the flying...)

Where the 3D glasses fit into this smorgasbord, we're not sure. On the press release they're simply the following bullet point: "See the game in real life and feel the sweat run down your spine."

All this and 'mesmeric Surround Sound'. It's enough to make us… wait until we've played it or at least seen a video of it before commenting any further.
