Glory Days - Tactical Defense turns tower defence inside out

French studio ODenis is something of a DS specialist.

Thanks to cracking titles such as Glory Days 2, and DSiWare release Pop Island, it's kept faith with Nintendo when other developers have moved onto other platforms.

And not content with that situation, it's planning its most quirky game yet.

Invasion planned

Glory Days - Tactical Defense is a 3D tower defence game that has you controlling a 3D wireframe cube cursor.

A topdown map view of the action is shown on the bottom DS screen, but on the top, you roll your cube over the landscape, placing and upgrading turrets, anti aircraft guns, and missile launchers as you go.

It's certainly bringing a new dimension to the tower defence genre, which has become very boring.

Although whether the cutesy graphics and the complex spatial orientation will mesh well together for the younger DS audience is less clear - particularly as up to 300 units onscreen are promised.

Glory Days - Tactical Defense is due for release soon, starting with the US DSiWare Shop.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
