Leading mobile publisher Gameloft today announced that no less than 12 new games based upon Ubisoft console games are set to be unleashed onto phone handsets in the next year.

This year we'll see mobile versions of spy shooters Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, pet simulation Dogz, movie-based adventure game Open Season and Rayman Raving Rabbits (we're not sure exactly what that one's about either, but we'd expect… madcap antics).

2007, meanwhile, will see the highly acclaimed action/adventure game Assassin's Creed, World War 2 battle action Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway and innovative first-person shooter Haze all released for phones.

With four more Ubisoft titles to be announced shortly, as well as an equally hefty line-up of Gameloft's homegrown titles including the likes of Paris Hilton's Diamond Quest, The O.C and Urban Asphalt GT 2 3D, pocket gamers can expect to be kept very busy by Gameloft over the next few months.
